Experience Hope for Teens

Experience Hope for Teens is a school-based intervention that aims to prevent and reduce trauma-
related behavior problems for African American students by increasing their access to trauma-informed
services, increasing school capacity to respond in a non-punitive, healing-focused and restorative
manner to trauma-related behavior, and decreasing students’ trauma symptoms, such as Posttraumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, dissociation, internalizing, externalizing, and complicated
grief reactions. This Community Defined Evidence Program (CDEP) is designed to create culturally-
responsive places of healing in the African American community.

Opioid and Stimulant Use Disorder Prevention and Education

Offers 12-month contracts of up to $200,000 for California organizations to implement inclusive programs addressing opioid, stimulant, and polysubstance use. Funded activities should support awareness, prevention, outreach, education, stigma reduction, and stronger referral pathways to treatment and medications for opioid use disorder. Direct treatment and recovery support services are not funded.

Community Innovation Pilot Awards (CIPA) Program

These awards will fund innovative, community-based models throughout California that are working to improve Black maternal and infant health by reducing chronic stress, addressing neighborhood conditions, and expanding access to high-quality, respectful health care.

During the initial two-year funding cycle, the CIPA program will support 4-5 community-based organizations (CBOs) in California that are addressing maternal and infant health disparities by providing culturally congruent and community-centered perinatal health programs and services to pregnant and postpartum Black women, other Black birthing people, and their families.
